Bart Really great blackened thrash album here. The title track does a good job of encompassing the entire album. Starts off with slow marching thrash riffs, then slowly ramps it up till about 5 minutes into the song it explodes into black metal fury. Really great catchy riffs throughout. I even dig the almost Abruptum like tune of "Awakening" which is just menacing and evil. My favorite album so far in '23. Favorite track: A Dark Sun Rises.

Bart Really excellent Black/Thrash metal. Very retro sound that harkens back to the earlier days of Black. Nasty with a really full sound. I really loved this album and this made me a big fan of this band. 5/5 skulls. Favorite track: Beyond The Pale.

Malleus has returned to present us with 'The Fires Of Heaven". Expanding on and refining their influences from the seminal first wave era of death and black metal, they have delivered unto us 8 savage bursts of classic blackened metal. Combining brooding atmosphere, razor sharp riffs, fiercely delivered drumming and raw, throat ripping vocals, all summoned and sent forth from the gloomiest crypts and corners of olde New England. Like a distant tolling bell emanating from the manic depths of humanity's past, the lyrics contemplate and belie the failings of mankind, and evoke a sense of the darkness that may yet lay ahead...

Take note fans of Hellhammer, Bathory, Venom, Celtic Frost, Sodom, and Motorhead.

The first time I heard this band was off their Heir of Ecliptical Romanticism, and I remember the riffs being the highlight of the album. This album is no different. The band just has a fuller sound with better production these days. Many of their tunes here remind me of early Satyricon. The classic heavy metal influences really make those riffs stick in your brain. Bart
